I recently purchased a new desktop PC (AMD 3600, 16GB Ram, AMD RTX 5600) with the intention of increasing productivity and testing and learning next-generation graphic design programs, VR, and ray tracing. It’s…pretty incredible.
During the installation, I realized how intentional I am about maximizing speed and privacy on the system, but that I’ve never captured my setup to share for friends, relatives, parents buying their own new system.
Here it is on a PC environment, in case you want to clone it:
Browser Add-ons (for all except Tor…which remains vanilla):
- Google Translate
- NoScript*
- Random User Agent (anonymizes your system configuration)
- Feedly Filtering and Sorting, Privacy Badger (reduces browser fingerprinting )
- UBlock Origin (Most powerful ad blocker)
- Password Vault of your choice with 2-factor authentication
Software: Spotify, WinRar, Adobe CC, Daemon Tools Lite (for installing my existing software via Virtual Drive), Evernote
*NoScript is overkill for a layperson and doesn’t need to be on two browsers. Use it only on your primary and switch to your secondary when websites break. Which they will.
